Population
Estimates: Pennsylvania
The PSDC produces two types of population estimates for the state: 1) Detailed
State and County Estimates and 2) Municipal Estimates. The detailed estimates
include total population by gender and by five-year age groups (0 to 4, 5 to 9, etc.). In
addition, the detailed report includes population estimates by white and black race groups
for the state and selected counties. Reports include state- and county-level total
population estimates along with the previous year's estimate and the 1990 Decennial
Census' total population count. These reports are published annually.
The Municipal Estimates include total population estimates for each of the
Commonwealth's counties, townships, cities and boroughs. Also included are the previous
year estimate and the 1990 Decennial Census' total population count. These reports are
published for even numbered years, i.e., 1992, 1994, 1996.
