information resources to public policy implications to economic/community development
issues.
The Numbers Game: Census Basics
Census data plays an important role in day-to-day decision making by businesses,
planners, educators and non-profits. But first, users must know what data is available. In
this workshop, census concepts such as geography and content are explained in detail. Also
discussed are the various types of censuses taken (decennial, economic, monthly), how
census data can be used, products and services available from the Census Bureau, State
Data Center and local organizations.
Playing the Numbers Game: Utilizing CD/ROMs Census
Put Census data to work. Census data can help you determine what services are needed in
your area, where to open a business or relocate one, and how to develop a customer
profile. This workshop will provide attendees with hands-on experience in accessing
decennial and economic data via CD/ROM for specific areas. The workshop will be
particularly useful to business entrepreneurs and non-profit organizations.
Products and Services
The PaSDC will discuss the products and services it offers as well as various
publications and data produced by the Census Bureau.
