Census 2010
The U.S. Census is a count of everyone residing in the United States: in all 50 states, Puerto Rico and the Island Areas. A census is mandated by the U.S. Constitution in order to determine each state’s Congressional representation. The numbers also affect funding in your community and help inform decision makers about how your community is changing.
As the commonwealth’s official liaison to the Census Bureau, the Pennsylvania State Data Center encourages you to learn more about the importance of the census, to become involved in preparing for the 2010 Census and to fill out your census form on April 1, 2010.

Form a Complete Count Committee
The Census Bureau is developing partnerships with state, local, and tribal governments; community-based organizations; faith-based groups; schools; businesses; the media; and others to form Complete Count Committees. Complete Count Committees work to promote the 2010 Census in their communities by incorporating local knowledge, influence and resources to educate residents on the importance of getting a complete count in the 2010 Census.
For more information about forming a Complete Count Committee, click here for an informational brochure or call the Census Bureau Philadelphia Regional Office at 1-215-717-7600 and ask for the partnership area.
LUCA - Local Update of Census Addresses
The Local Update of Census Addresses program, also known as LUCA, is a decennial census geographic partnership program that will allow the Census Bureau to benefit from local knowledge in developing its Master Address File (MAF) for the 2010 Census. Tribal, state, and local governments can contribute to a more complete and accurate census for their community by reviewing and commenting on the list of housing unit and group quarters addresses that the Census Bureau will use to deliver questionnaires within their community.
