Closing the Earnings Gap in Pennsylvania 2006 is an update of similar publications produced by the Pennsylvania State Data Center in 1988 and 1994. The gender-based earnings gap documented in those earlier works continues today.* This report offers an updated snapshot of the state’s earnings gap based on newly available data from the U.S. Census Bureau’s 2004 American Community Survey. The purpose of this report is to provide information that contributes to the development of policies and programs designed to eliminate gender-based wage disparities in Pennsylvania.
